JOHANNESBURG - The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) is yet to decide whether it will support Pule Mabe’s campaign to take over from expelled leader Julius Malema.

Mabe was reinstated by the mother body at the weekend.

Earlier, the League's National Executive Committee removed him from his position as treasurer.

Malema was expelled from the party six weeks ago.

On Sunday, the Gauteng ANCYL gave Mabe an opportunity to speak to its members.

But acting provincial secretary Nkhensani Kubayi said that does not mean they have formally decided to back him for the League’s top job.

Mabe is seen as a supporter of ANC President Jacob Zuma.

But national ANCYL leaders have expressed their support for Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe.
